In 1986, the seed of social consciousness planted by Smt. Velammal in the young mind of Shri. M.V. Muthuramalingam, Founder Chairman of Velammal Educational Trust, began to take root. This vision led to the establishment of Velammal Matriculation School in Chennai, starting with just 183 students and 13 staff members. Over the years, the school's strength grew, along with its reputation. As the demand for quality education increased, more institutions were established, leading to the widespread recognition of the Velammal Group of Institutions.
