Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, a renowned technical institution in North Malabar, was established in 2003 under the guidance of Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, based in Talap, Kannur. The Yogam, founded by the revered saint Sree Narayana Guru in 1907, is centered around the Sree Sundareshwara Temple in Talap, Kannur, which was consecrated by the Guru in 1916. The Yogam is dedicated to promoting the Guru's vision of enriching people’s lives in educational, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects.

Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam is dedicated to realizing the vision of Guru by establishing educational institutions, providing financial assistance, and offering endowments to deserving students. The Yogam has founded several notable institutions, including Sree Narayana Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, one of the most respected CBSE schools in Kannur District, as well as Sree Narayana ITI and a working women's hostel in Kannur.
