About NIT, Puducherry

National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY), located in the scenic coastal enclave of Karaikal along the Kaveri River, is one of the ten newly established NITs in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Despite being a young institution, NITPY is dedicated to producing skilled and responsible technocrats who contribute to the nation's growth and development. Admissions began in the 2010-11 academic year through JEE Mains, with 50% of seats reserved for residents of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam, while the remaining 50% are filled on an all-India basis.

The institute boasts 63 faculty members and 34 non-teaching staff, supporting 1,421 students with expert guidance and advanced facilities. NITPY ensures students receive a modern curriculum, hands-on project experience, teamwork exposure, and enhanced communication skills. The institute fosters innovation, with students actively participating in research, designing lab experiments, and even developing the official website. Emphasizing a holistic learning approach, students engage in technical and extracurricular activities, transforming challenges into opportunities.
