The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is a premier institution of national importance, recognized for its excellence in higher technological education, as well as basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government extended technical assistance to establish an advanced engineering institute in India. This collaboration led to the signing of the first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany, in 1959, marking the foundation of IIT Madras.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

• Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Agricultural, or Geomatics Engineering.

• Two-year Master’s degree in Civil, Agricultural, or Geomatics Engineering or related disciplines with specialization in:

  • Hydrology

  • Hydraulics

  • Water Resources

  • Irrigation Water Management

  • GIS/Remote Sensing

Additional Requirements:

• Candidates must have either:
  a) Qualified GATE, OR
  b) Cleared the National Level Selection Process conducted by IIT Madras for this announcement.

• Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in:

  • GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS)

  • Field hydrology & measurements

  • Hydrologic modeling (HEC-HMS, SWAT)

Salary / Pay Scale ₹

The salary offered is ₹37,000 per month, along with 27% House Rent Allowance (HRA).
