About Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa

The Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) is an autonomous public university situated in Goa. After being allocated an IIT by the Central Government in 2014, IIT Goa began operations in July 2016 from a temporary campus at Goa Engineering College (GEC) in Farmagudi. The institute currently offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D programs across several core and one non-core discipline, primarily in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

Experience Requirements:

Assistant Professor Grade I:  Requires a minimum of three years of post-PhD experience in teaching, research, or professional work. The candidate must have demonstrated significant research capability through high-quality publications, patents, or similar achievements.

Assistant Professor Grade II: This position is for candidates who do not meet the experience criteria for Assistant Professor Grade I or are assessed as not yet prepared for that role based on their research record or interview performance. Appointments at this grade can be promoted to Assistant Professor Grade I following an appropriate review process.

Qualification:

The required academic qualification for all faculty positions is a Ph.D in the relevant discipline with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree and a very good academic record throughout.

Salary / Pay Scale ₹

Assistant Professor Grade-I :

• Pay Level -12; cell -1

• Pay matrix : 101500 – 167400

Assistant Professor Grade-II

• Pay Level -10; cell -14    or   Pay Level -11; cell-10   or    Pay Level -11; cell -11
