Experience and Qualification Requirements
Professor:
A: An esteemed scholar with a Ph.D. in a relevant or allied discipline, who has published high-quality research. This includes at least 10 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, as well as a total research score of 120 according to the criteria outlined in Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulations, 2018 (see Annexure-I).
A minimum of ten years of teaching experience at a university or college as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, or equivalent research experience at a university or national level institution, with documented evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates.
OR
B: An exceptional professional with a Ph.D. in a relevant or allied discipline from any academic institution (not covered in A) or from industry, who has made significant contributions to knowledge in the relevant field, supported by documentary evidence, and has at least ten years of experience.
Associate Professor:
A strong academic record, with a Ph.D. in the relevant or allied disciplines.
A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale, where applicable).
A minimum of eight years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic or research position equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor at a university, college, or accredited research institution/industry, along with at least seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 75, in accordance with the criteria outlined in Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulations, 2018 (see Annexure-I).
Assistant Professor:
A: A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale where applicable) in a relevant or allied subject from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, such as SLET/SET. Those who have been awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and any amendments will be exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirements, provided they meet the following conditions:
The Ph.D. degree was awarded in a regular mode.
The Ph.D. thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners.
An open Ph.D. viva voce was conducted.
The candidate has published two research papers based on their Ph.D. work, with at least one published in a refereed journal.
The candidate has presented at least two papers from their Ph.D. work at conferences/seminars sponsored, funded, or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or a similar agency.
The fulfillment of these conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the relevant university.
Note 1: NET/SLET/SET will not be required for Master’s programs in disciplines for which these tests are not conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar accredited tests.
Note 2: The National Eligibility Test (NET) or an accredited test (SLET/SET) will remain the minimum eligibility requirement for appointment as Assistant Professor or in equivalent positions, as specified in UGC regulations. Additionally, SLET/SET will be valid as the minimum eligibility for direct recruitment to universities, colleges, or institutions within the respective state only.
OR
B: A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university or institution that ranks among the top 500 in the World University Rankings, as recognized by any of the following:
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
Times Higher Education (THE)
Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Note: The academic score specified in Appendix II (Table 3A) of UGC Regulations, 2018 will be considered for shortlisting candidates for interviews; however, selections will be based solely on interview performance (see Annexure-II).
